Assignment 4: Understanding web marketing and devising a web marketing strategy. PART 2

Using www.ning.com I have designed a social network site about super cars. It’s a basic website which is easy to use and intended for people who enjoy and take pride in cars, giving them a chance to join the network and add pictures of there own, videos, take part in the forums and discussion groups that are available on the site.  The site I have created is  http://muzzy01.ning.com/ when logging in you would notice that the layout is very simple and the site contains a lot of features, such as pictures, videos, groups, forums for the user to take part in and you don’t have to be a very knowledgeable about cars in order to join and take part as the site is created purely for people who are interested in cars and want to ‘show them off’ i.e. cars of there own, or simply just cars that they like, and discuss them with other users online. Most car sites I had looked at had a lot of information on cars and how they are built and the different parts that can be purchased or used to enhance performances, however I choose not to include any of this as it would get really confusing for online users who don’t really know much about cars and this may make them feel that the site is not for them. Therefore I have kept it very basic so that anybody can use it even those who don’t have much knowledge about how they work.

 The purpose of my site is to get people who love cars to join and discuss there passion for super cars with others online. This can be done through many ways such as by uploading pictures of the car you own or cars that you like and also by uploading videos of cars. Users can also take part in the forums which allows them to take part in discussions with other users on the site which I think adds to the whole interaction purpose as users can interact more with other users this way by actually being able to hold discussions with them. Users can also join groups on the site. I have also inserted a game which is mainly for the younger audiences so that they can come and play, and this may also be a feature that will make the younger people re-visit the site for example trying to achieve the top scores on it.  Interface  The site interface I believe is very user friendly, and I have used a consistent theme throughout on each page such as colors and heading, this is to help keep the layout of the whole site looking familiar to the user so that each page does not feel like the user is visiting a different site. I’ve also used bright colors to help make information on the page stand out and clearly visible to the user. The site is also well organized allowing navigation through the site very easy.  As a whole I think that I have created an excellent site which is interesting and fun to use and the whole layout, colors and material that have been added onto the site make the experience of visiting the site a very enjoyable one.
